02/01/17 - Yard No. 036 Launch

Preparations are well underway for the launch of Yard No. 036 on 6th January. The yard is a hive of activity with space being made and scaffolding being taken down so that the vessel can be lifted into the water.

A Sarens Group Terrex TC3200 crane arrives in the yard on Tuesday and will be rigged over two days ready for the launch of Daystar, a 24m single and twin rig trawler for Skipper Stephen West of MB Good Design on Friday 6th January at approximately 10am.

Everyone at Parkol is due enormous credit for their hard work and determination to achieve the exacting specification required of this new build. The end result is a vessel that is a credit to our workforce.

The contract for the build was signed in December 2014 and the vessel construction started in February 2016. The vessel is 24.0m overall length, 23.0m registered and is due to be completed by the end of January. A naming ceremony will be carried out on the quay followed by a celebratory drinks in the evening attended by the Owners and Parkol.

The boat was designed by Ian Paton of S C McAllister and Company. The deck machinery was provided by E K Marine Ltd and the electronics package by McMinn Marine.

Jim Morrison, Managing Director of Parkol said “It has been a pleasure working with Stephen West and his Fishing Agent Graham Taylor from Westward Fishing Company. We have a long standing relationship with Westward and are very grateful for their business. We hope that this new vessel is as successful venture for them both.”
